Portrait painting tutorial by ellaine Portrait painting tutorial by ellaine
Kind of;p.
Because some of you wanted to see the walk through of this certain portrait and I unfortunately don't have any steps saved, I did at least this - put together a few techniques and brushes I use while painting. Ha, looks like doing tutorials slowly becomes my second nature;p

But I hope, it will prove itself at least a bit helpful. If you should have any questions that are not mentioned above, feel free to ask:)

The final product can be seen here: [link]

thanks to this tut, I now know how to use corel painter, something I've never been able to do before. Photoshop, brushes are all practically the same. You really have to know your brushes when you use corel lol. That FPP was finally the brush I was looking for in corel, it fixed ALL my problems lolol... you are amazing!! I'm forever in your debt for that FFP brush knowledge. <33

Wolny czas to niestety rzecz cenna. Ale z tłumaczenia mozna sie zawsze duzo nauczyć i podszkolic angielski:>

Ooh, this is very helpful! :) You mentioned so many little things that can make such a big difference, like adding background colors to the skin, techniques for things like stubble, and that sponge tool ( which I'm going to try, because I have such a hard time making skin actually look like skin! >.< ). Thank you very much!

Ps: He's smiling because it was finally lupus, right? :noes:

That's absolutely great! Because usually you see a finished work and well, I wonder how it looks in between, and what are the thoughts that go though someone's head while they are making it. I've been drawing on paper for so long, I have to let go of those rules, and make new rules for digital painting, but it's so tough!

I've been trying to learn how to use corel painter more but I haven't gotten the hang of it yet. I like the control better than in adobe's. :)

thanks again!

You're welcome. Well, some people say Painter is just too complicated and it's easier to make your own brushes and paint in Photoshop. But I can't get used to paint in PS and still prefer Painter:)

I actually like both. I draw and paint on Painter then use Photoshop to add finishing touches. :)

Ha, glad I could show something new:D. Sponge is really an awesome thing sometimes. Just like I abuse Fine Point Pen, I could actually paint everything using this brush, and don't care much about the other tools;p. It's good that the tutorials are forcing me to use something different from time to time;p.
